IMPLANTATION

Nowadays implantations have become very trendy and many patients replace their extracted teeth with implants. With these it is possible to have a fixed solution without removable prosthetics.

How does it work?

After an extraction (removal of a tooth including its root), the bone needs roughly 4 - 6 months to heal, so that normal, healthy bone grows in the place of the tooth. After the observation of the bone amount and density through a panoramic X-ray, the dentist decides if an implantation is possible, and if so he or she looks for the perfect implant to fit. At implantation, while the patient is under local anaesthesia, the dentist makes a small incision in the gums, screws the implant into the bone and then stitches the small wound. This operation is neither painful nor long nor involving massive swelling. The sutures are removed after 7 days and the patient must allow the implant area and the bone to heal for roughly 3 - 4 months. After this healing time it is possible to place a crown or a bridge on the implant.

Implants are not for use by:
  • Children
  • Pregnant or lactating women
  • Heavy drinkers of alcohol
  • Patients with known allergies to the ingredients
  • Patients without enough bone mass
  • Patients with bone disease
  • High risk patients (Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease) only after doctor consultation
